6 MALAYSIAN SHORTIES
6 Short Films from some of Malaysia’s most talented Directors. Short skits depicting the trials and tribulations of Malaysia life, and more; some thought provoking, some humorous, some tear jerking; some just plain entertaining, all screened back to back in the same session.
1. THE INVIGILATOR
Director: Manesh Nesaratnam
10 minutes; Malay with English subtitles
An idealistic trainee teacher decides to quit teaching after an embarrassing argument in class. Her invigilator, a senior male teacher, attempts to convince her otherwise. He opens her up to a new world of creative teaching techniques, hopeful that it will change her heart. Starring celebrity actor Cheryl Samad and Tony Eusoff.

A story about two brothers. The elder Wen Guang is autistic, suffers from attention deficiency disorder, struggles with social interaction and has difficulty performing day to day tasks. To make ends meet, he is coerced by his younger brother into looking for a job. We see Wen Guang searching for a job and yet still keeping alive his secret passion of searching for the ultimate glass that will bring him a simple, pure, hard earned, fleeting moment of joy. 2011 Winner BMW Shorties Short Film Competition.
3. LAST DAY

After a wild leaving party with his closest friends, Michael wakes up tied to a chair in a strange, decrepit room with no idea how he got there and no idea why. This short film was shot for the KL 48 Hour Film Project. Conceived, written, shot and edited in under 36 hours.
4. LUCKY SHOT

' ‘Lucky Shot’ tells the story of a photographer who, whilst showing her portfolio to her mentor, reveals the stories of her past relationships and a possible future one. This short film was devised as a test for the Canon 5D Mark II and was shot in a day without a crew or budget.

A young girl falls in love with her schoolmate. But due to her family’s troubles, she succumbs to marrying another in the hope of helping her ailing mother and securing a better future for herself. But, life is unexpected and she soon finds herself "trapped” in a situation of much heartache and emotional turmoil. Starring Sharifah Amani, Beto Kushairy, Fatimah Abu Bakar and Othman Hafsham. Based on a true story by Susan Bansin.
6. HUJAN PANAS

For the longest time, Zaki a Malaysian man, dreams of living in New York City. He enrolls himself in a short business course, and shares an apartment with two Indonesian immigrants Ferdy and Mira. In between the excitement and the harsh reality of living in New York City, he finds himself slowly attracted to Mira. She helps him realise the possibilities of starting life anew. Possibilities that threaten his impending marriage and his awaited return to Malaysia.
